Franco

I just realized it a while ago when my dog didn't ran for me when I was approaching our house and I said "hindi mo ko nakilala?!"

I/we have a dog named FRANCO. If my brother was named after a famous PBA player during the 90's, well our dog was named after a famous rock band vocalist. We were not used of taking care of dogs because all of our dogs from the previous years really don't live long or even lasts for a year. Since thats our case, no one knows how to tell if a pup is a he or she. When my brother picked up and hugged Franco when he was wasted on his way home last summer, surrounded by different kinds of species, all the way he/we thought Franco was a he. It was months after finding out that Franco our dog is a she! LOL! And it's because of a friend who told us he's a SHE and my brother argued with our friend that Franco is a HE! So it ended that Franco is a she.

Franco was an unidentified type of canine. First we thought she's a (something like a show type dog) because she's not growing normal like how askals grew taller. But I can tell her body tells us that she is a mongrel. (fuckin curious until now because she's like the smallest askal roaming inside the village)---the smallest and sexiest askal! beat that!

Actually, I always claim that he's my nephew's dog when I'm too lazy too feed the dogs. Now I can't tell who is Franco's boss in the house. Although that's how the doggie system in the house runs, Franco treats everyone of us like her real boss.

This is the reason why I came up with this. I just realize that this layas na dog is always running after me every time I'm coming home. As I enter our street, I can see Franco right away. She is the only one standing there and when she sees me, she'll stop for a while and stare at me (nangingilala si loko) and if she didn't ran for me, I will whistle and she'll realize now that it's me! I just observed that ritual we do every night when I'm arriving. She's always outside and when I already opened the gate, she'll also get in and cuddle her baby girl (Apa) and play.

I didn't whistle a while ago when she was recognizing me and she didn't ran to me excitedly. She just walked towards our gate then I whistled. She immediately turned around and ran after me like he was asking for a pasalubong. I always see her tail wagging fast and her ears in a 'nagpapahimas/maglalambing' position (yeah yung nakababa na parang nakadikit na sa ulo). I know that shows that she's excited to see I'm home.

Every time I go home, whether I'm wasted or sober, hungry, happy, mad, early morning, midnight..basta palagi yun! Franco waits for me outside, and sometimes, if I go out late at night, she goes with me until where she can take me. Even the bad dogs will bully or trip on her, she'll always be there with me.

A dog was defined as man's best friend and they will protect you when you're in a bad situation, specially if you're they're amo.

BUT my dog Franco is different. Since the day she gave birth to 6 puppies (4 survived) last summer, we didn't tied her up anymore so we never hear her bark after that. She was tamed and she is actually tamed! I don't really play games with her yet (though I like to play Frisbee with her). I learned that there are dogs really for fetching so my dog wasn't that type of dog. And since she doesn't bark anymore and she become a very tamed dog, she can't be our house guard now. (baka makipaglaro pa siya sa masamang manloloob ng bahay pagnagkataon). Anyway, even Franco is the type of that dog that fetches and defenses us. Even she is not the usual type of dog, I know I'm not the usual amo to do defend her when she's in deep shit. I really don't care at all but I just don't like seeing my saint-like dog being bullied and rumbled.

I was still sleeping when my brother knocked and knocked at my door to wake me up, just to see what he got for me, a kutong nag korteng tuta. That was Franco. My brother asked me to revive the poor puppy and I answered him "ano ko? veterinaryo? Diyos? bakit ako pinagrerevive mo sa asong 'yan?" BUT I did it! I actually revived Franco while he was nag-aagaw buhay, fighting the battle against the army of pests and dog flea. I was broke that time so I wasn't able to bring her to the vet for deworming and rabies (yes 'di pa nakapunta ng vet si Franco at wala pa siyang medical records). She grew up healthy, she eats a lot like Slimer, she is gala like us and she loves her babies very much. Hindi siya mahirap pakainin nung nanganak siya, and dahil gala siya, nasagasaan siya and parang may 2months na ata siyang pilay dahil nasagasaan siya, she's still healthy and alive. I slightly panicked when a friend told me that pilay can lead to a dog's end. But after a week or two, Franco is still lively, layas pa rin kahit umiika paa, hindi lang 'yan, umuupo pa sa gitna ng kalsada! beat that!

Franco maybe a super tamed-di makabasag pinggan dog, but she is strong. She fights for what she think she should fight for. Even until now she still have a slight pilay, she never fails to salubong me every time I got home. I am not a dog lover but I think this is one of the best way to show love to your dog. Appreciate them in any way not just bringing them in a pet grooming clinic, give proper food and vitamins, buy them nasty clothes (that you don't even know if they like it or not). I think accessorising your dogs is not a way of showing love for them when you can't even bathe them and remove their fleas personally.

Dog lovers don't show love by doing what THEY want for their DOGS. A real dog lover should know and learn everything manually about dogs and what's the best for them and provide the things that they really need, not what you want.
